Jungut Batu — the social hub

Jungut Batu is where most boats arrive and where most of the island's cafés, surf shops and dive operators are concentrated. It's the liveliest part of Lembongan, with a long stretch of beachfront restaurants and easy access to the surf breaks. If you want to be in the middle of things, this is your area. The tradeoff is that the beach itself is not the most beautiful on the island and the strip can feel busy during high season.

Mushroom Bay — calm and family-friendly

On the southwest side of the island, Mushroom Bay is quieter and more sheltered. The bay is protected from the swell, making it safe for swimming and ideal for families with young children. A handful of mid-range and upscale resorts line the bay. It's a short scooter ride from the main village, close enough to reach everything but far enough to feel removed from it.

The cliffs and south coast — for the views

The southern tip of the island is where you find the most dramatic scenery. Cliff-edge villas and boutique properties here trade on the views rather than beach access, and they deliver. Sunsets from this part of the island are genuinely spectacular. It suits couples or solo travellers who want something more design-led and private.

What to look for when booking

Beyond location, a few things are worth checking before you commit. Air conditioning matters more than you'd think — nights can be warm and humid even in the dry season. A pool is a genuine asset since the best swimming beaches require a scooter ride. And proximity to a good restaurant makes a difference when you've spent a full day in the water and don't want to go far for dinner.
